In A Year

A year ago everything was different… I had just returned from a 4 month leave from work (finishing 2024 as one of the worst performance years I’ve had) to support my wife at home as she endured one of the most difficult years of her life. We were going on 9 months (and two different realtors) of trying to sell our house in Texas and move back home to Florida, which was a draining experience in it of itself. My faith was without a doubt being challenged as I had no answers as to why things were unfolding the way they were. I found myself many times in a state of desperation seeking for God to move in our lives; still holding on and believing that He would answer our prayers.

Fast forward to now, a year later, as I sit here in our new home in Florida, I can’t help but emphasize that a lot can change in a year...

We did in fact sell our house (one more realtor + 8 months later) and moved back to Florida, what I missed out on professionally at the beginning of the year I earned back and then some throughout the year, and more importantly though, God continues to sustain us day in and day out.

Here’s a few things I learned throughout it all:

  1. Remember your prayers (1 John 5:14-15)
    • God did listen to my prayer, it just wasn’t the one I made when I felt desperate but rather the one I made 1.5 years prior (October 2023) in a moment of faith and surrender to His will
  2. You are not meant to go at it alone (Proverbs 27:17)
    • I realized that I wasn’t as alone as I may have felt. From pastors, to mentors, to friends and family, etc. the reality was that I was doing myself a disservice by not bringing them in sooner; simply reach out and you’ll be surprised at how many people will actually show up for you
  3. Trust the process (Jeremiah 29:11)
    • I know this is easier said than done, however, I firmly believe that everything we go through in life has a purpose! If we are willing to just keep going, persevering through the storm, and hold on to our faith, in due time we will see the other side

While it wasn’t easy by any means, I wouldn’t change what we went through one bit. I’m grateful for God’s faithfulness, I’m grateful for the people (you know who you are) He placed in our lives to help us get through the difficult times, and I’m excited for the new seasons that lie ahead.

Who knows what else can happen in a year…

You Are Not Alone
